Our promise

• ▸Every ounce has to earn its place. No piece of gear gets ranked on its spec sheet. We weigh it, carry it on real trails, and judge whether what it does is worth what it costs you in ounces and dollars. It's the whole reason we exist.
• ▸Independence over payouts. We earn affiliate commissions on some links, but verdicts are set on the merits before money is considered. A brand can't buy a spot, a badge, or a softer sentence. See our disclosure.
• ▸Real numbers, honest limits. Where a weight or spec is the manufacturer's listed figure rather than one we verified ourselves, we say so. We test on real trails with a real scale, not in a certified lab, and we're straight about it.
• ▸We keep it current. 47 reviews and guides and counting, re-checked as new gear ships and brands revise their designs.
